Before You Move

• Notify gas, electric, telephone, water, cable, and credit card companies.
• Stop by the post office and fill out a change of address form.

Packing

One Room at a Time 
It’s more efficient and less stressful if you pack one room at a time. Be sure and label each box appropriately (on top and side) with a description of its contents. Boxes containing breakable or sentimental items should always be labeled as “Fragile”. Keep a detailed list of what items are packed in each box to make unpacking easier.

Save Some $$
If you would like to save some money, take the boxes and place them towards the front of the house or in the garage. This will help your move go quicker and save you time and money.

Pack Carefully
Wrap each item individually and always place a layer of crushed paper in the bottom of the box or carton for cushioning. Fill empty spaces with additional crushed paper. When wrapping glasses, carefully put paper in the glass as well.

Small/Heavy, Big/Light
When you are packing, make sure you don't put a lot of heavy items in a large box could break. Also, pack the heavier items in a smaller box so the contents are secure and easier to carry.

Plan Ahead
Pack a bag or suitcase with some things you will be needing for the first couple of days while you move in. (Toiletries, a change of clothes, food, first-aid kit, etc.)
